Tarasov House in Krasnodar

Фото 1
At the intersection of Krasnaya and Sovetskaya streets stands a remarkably beautiful mansion that once belonged to the merchant family Tarasov.

On March 24, 1913, a two-story house named after Gavriil and Nikolai Tarasov was laid on the grounds of the Armenian Uspensky Church. This house was donated by the merchants of Yekaterinodar to the church parish guardianship.

Such a charitable act was not accidental.

The founder of one of the largest companies in Kuban, the "Trading House of the Tarasov Brothers," is considered to be Aslan Tarasov. An Armenian by nationality, he moved with his family to Armavir in 1839 and engaged in trade. His business quickly flourished, and by 1855, Aslan Tarasov was elected an honorary judge of Armavir. He died two years later, but his sons continued his work. Branches of the company opened in many settlements in Kuban, and in 1879, the Tarasovs were admitted to the merchant class of Yekaterinodar. By the beginning of World War I, the "Partnership of the Tarasov Brothers' Manufactures" had a capital of over 8 million rubles in gold, numerous stores, shops, factories, and lands throughout the North Caucasus.

The building was designed by the famous architect N.M. Kozo-Polyansky, who created it with great skill. The main facade is divided into three risalits: a central one and two side ones, decorated in the form of four-column and two-column porticos. The facade is adorned with stucco decorations, garlands, wreaths, and female figures, which give the building a festive appearance and emphasize the elegance of its architectural forms.

During the Great Patriotic War, the building suffered partial damage: the roof, attic, and inter-floor spaces were destroyed. In the 1950s, it was restored to house the administrative offices of the regional prosecutor's office. As a result, one of the two main entrances was closed, and the second main staircase was removed. However, overall, the building has retained its beauty and continues to delight the residents of Krasnodar with its decor.
