The house in the Shamorzhi Monastery was specifically built for the Moscow entrepreneur and philanthropist Sergey Vasilyevich Perlov (1836-1910), where he stayed with his family during visits to the monastery.

Sergey Vasilyevich and his wife Anna Yakovlevna were spiritual disciples of St. Ambrose and actively supported the monastery. Thanks to their donations, almost all the main monastery buildings were erected and various workshops were organized: icon painting, minting, gilding on metal and wood, gold embroidery, bookbinding, carpet making, sewing, as well as a printing house and photo workshop. By his will, Sergey Vasilyevich was buried in the monastery next to the graves of the abbesses behind the altar of the Kazan Cathedral. Anna Yakovlevna, remaining a widow, lived in Moscow but often visited Shamordino with her children and grandchildren. Before her death in 1919, she took monastic vows with the name Ambrosia.

Today, the Perlov house has been restored and serves the needs of the monastery.
