"House with a Rose," built between 1916 and 1920, was a gift from architect Alexander Kozlov to his wife. Kozlov, of Ukrainian descent and educated in Moscow, designed half of the buildings in the historical center of the city.

The two-story building at the intersection of Komsomolskaya and Oktyabrskaya streets (formerly Shtabnaya and Pospolitakinskaya) stands out among other houses due to the elegant rose on its facade. In this house, the architect lived with his wife, Ekaterina Nikolaevna.

In the early 20th century, the house was a meeting place for the Krasnodar elite. Among its guests were artist Roman Kolesnikov, collector Fyodor Kovalenko, after whom the museum on Pushkinskaya Square is named, as well as architects I. Malgerb and A. Kosiakin, and engineers A. Konchevsky and V. Kondrashov.

Today, the house contains communal apartments, part of the building is for sale through a real estate agency, and the first floor is likely being prepared for commercial use.

Alexander Kozlov oversaw the construction of the Philharmonic (Winter Theater) and designed buildings such as the "Central" hotel on Krasnaya and Gimnaziyskaya, the "Metropol" hotel on Krasnaya and Gogol, and the apartment building of merchant Akulov on Krasnaya and Pushkin (now the regional arbitration court), which are now protected by the state as monuments.

Interestingly, the architect, who left a significant cultural mark in Krasnodar, lived in the city for just over 12 years. During this time, he completed the project for the Winter Theater, which was passed to him by his mentor Fyodor Shekhtel, known as the "father of Russian Art Nouveau" and the author of the Yaroslavsky railway station project in Moscow.

Alexander Kozlov lived in Kuban until 1926, after which he moved to Salsk, and then to Taganrog, where he worked as an engineer at a metallurgical plant.
