The house of Zakhar Shcherbak, the grandfather of writer and Nobel laureate Alexander Solzhenitsyn, is one of the main attractions of Novokubansk. This two-story mansion was built by Zakhar Fedorovich Shcherbak in 1905.

To construct the brick house with two floors, Zakhar Shcherbak invited an architect from Austria. Together with him, the owner carefully planned the project and was very pleased with the result: shutters and blinds provided protection from the heat, several plumbing lines and a private diesel power station made the house modern.

Around the house, a park was laid out with Himalayan firs from a Crimean garden, the alleys were illuminated with lanterns, greenhouses with palms and oleanders were built, and a pond with a swimming pool was dug, where the water was constantly renewed thanks to a special plumbing system, the secret of which remains undisclosed to this day. Pavilions were also constructed, and the lawns were sown in the English style. Behind the park was a garden with two hundred fruit trees, and beyond it, a vineyard. This entire complex was included in the work "Red Wheel."

In 1981, the estate was placed under state protection, and in 2004 it was transferred to the Holy Protection Church.
