This house is impossible to miss; it will definitely catch your attention. Today, I will tell its story.

Built in 1910 by architect Alexander Kozlov, known as the "father" of Ekaterinodar modernism, this house became an important part of the city's unique appearance.

The house was home to the family of Yegor Yegorovich Nikiforaki, a respected notary of Ekaterinodar and a city council deputy. The Nikiforakis, Russified Greeks, left a significant mark in Russia's history. Yegor Yegorovich's brother, Lieutenant General Nikolai Yegorovich Nikiforaki, led the Stavropol province for nearly two decades at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.

Let’s take a closer look at the Nikiforaki house in Ekaterinodar. What makes it remarkable? According to experts, there was no pure architecture in Ekaterinodar, only pure eclecticism. In this "modern" house, the facade features Romanesque motifs, a corner bay window, a conical dome with a "helmet," and Gothic elements such as pointed windows on the second floor and a stone fence reminiscent of a knight's helmet visor.

At the same time, the stucco panels with smooth plant motifs, the frieze under the dome, the shape of the balcony railing, and the entrance door are characteristic of the Art Nouveau style. The facade of the building is covered with green ceramic glazed tiles. All of this creates an eclectic yet harmonious appearance of the house.

The fate of the mansion in the city's history is quite unusual. After the defeat of the White movement in 1920, it housed the political department of the 9th army, headed by Soviet writer Dmitry Furmanov. He lived here and wrote the play "Communists." His wife, Anna Nikitichna, created the theater of the 9th army, whose performances were very successful.

Later, until 1930, it housed the Persian consulate. In 1943, government communication was installed in the house for Marshal Zhukov. Since 1956, a kindergarten called "Chapaenok" has been opened in the mansion. Such twists of fate...
