In Kyiv, everything is closely intertwined: this beautiful house, built in 1897 by architect Nikolai Gardenin, stands on a hill that is part of the defensive mounds of Prince Yaroslav the Wise. If you peek into the courtyard, you can see the remnants of these mounds. If you're lucky and the doors of the house are open, you can admire the antique tiles on the floor and the railing of the old stairs. As you leave the house, it's worth looking up and noticing the flirtatious maiden heads on the facade, as if greeting us from the 19th century.
