The Jan Rainis House Museum is a literary and artistic museum and a monument of history and culture in Russia. It was opened on May 19, 1992, and is located in a two-story wooden building with outbuildings, a carriage house, and a well. The first floor houses exhibition halls, while the second floor features a memorial area and a living room dedicated to the national poet of Latvia, Jan Rainis. The museum hosts up to ten diverse exhibitions each year, showcasing painting, graphics, decorative and applied arts, and local folk crafts. Creative meetings of the urban intelligentsia and workshops on decorative and applied arts are also held here. Themed excursions with quizzes, intellectual games, and video screenings are organized for schools upon request. An art salon operates at the museum, where visitors can purchase works by local artists and masters of decorative and applied arts, as well as products from folk crafts.
