The V. I. Lenin Memorial Museum in Samara is located on the grounds of a former merchant estate from the late 19th century. The Ulyanov family rented an apartment on the second floor of a house owned by the Samara merchant I. A. Rytikov from May 1890 to August 1893. During this period, V. I. Ulyanov Lenin formed his worldview in Samara, actively participating in the creation of a Marxist circle and writing his first theoretical works.

Since January 3, 1940, the V. I. Lenin Memorial Museum in Samara has been functioning as a historical and memorial museum. For the 100th anniversary of V. I. Lenin's birth in 1970, the memorial setting of the Ulyanov apartment was restored on the second floor, while the first floor housed a scientific and documentary exhibition dedicated to Lenin's life in Samara.
