The Kazan House Museum of V.I. Lenin is a memorial that recreates the living conditions of the Ulyanov family. The atmosphere of the house, including authentic items and details of daily life, helps to better understand how the family influenced the formation of Lenin's personality as a person and revolutionary.

The museum's exhibitions feature original documents, photocopies, references, books, photographs, and literary sources. According to Lenin, Kazan was one of the most important centers of factory and industrial production in the European part of Russia, with about eighty enterprises and up to 5,000 workers.

Vladimir Ulyanov decided to enroll in Kazan Imperial University, where his father, Ilya Nikolaevich Ulyanov, studied and graduated with honors. The Ulyanov family traditionally visited Kazan every year and decided to move here from Simbirsk. On May 30, 1887, an advertisement appeared in the newspaper 'Simbirsk Provincial News' announcing the sale of a house with a garden, a piano, and furniture on Moscow Street, in the Ulyanova house.

The Ulyanovs arrived in Kazan in June 1887. Initially, they stayed with sister Maria Alexandrovna, Anna Alexandrovna Veretennikova, in the Zavyalova house, and spent the summer in the village of Kokushkino. Upon returning to Kazan, they rented an apartment in the Rostova house on the First Hill, now Ulyanov Street, house 24. Later, Maria Alexandrovna rented a new apartment in the Solovyova house on Novo-Commissioner Street, now Komleva Street, house 15.

In the autumn of 1888, the family settled in the Orlov house, where the House Museum was later opened. This house was located on the First Hill, near Arskoye Field, and was a two-story wooden wing with a balcony and a picturesque garden. Maria Alexandrovna rented the entire second floor of the wing and two kitchens on the first floor.

The museum was opened on November 7, 1937, timed to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution. The creation and restoration of the Ulyanov family's apartment involved Lenin's younger brother, Dmitry Ilyich, his sisters Maria Ilyinichna and Anna Ilyinichna Ulyanova-Elizarova, as well as cousin N.I. Veretennikov.
