The most educated part of the population of the Mari El Republic is well acquainted with the name N.S. Mukhin, who glorified the Mari people in the early 20th century. He is known as a talented teacher, poet, writer, playwright, publicist, translator, author of educational materials on Mari grammar, public figure, and revolutionary, in short, a well-rounded person. However, Stalin's repressions cut his life short at the age of 47. In memory of him, the N.S. Mukhin House Museum was established in the village of Olyk'yel in the Morkinsky district 25 years ago at the initiative of Nazariy Alexandrovich Alexandrov.

Nazariy Alexandrovich Alexandrov, a candidate of medical sciences and former lecturer at the Mari State Pedagogical Institute, was the husband of Roza Nikolaevna Mukhina, the poet's youngest daughter. In the late 1980s, he proposed the idea of creating a museum in honor of Nikolai Mukhin in the village of Olyk'yel. The museum was built by the efforts of the collective farm 'Rodina' under the leadership of Yuri Nikitich Alexeev, a distinguished worker in agriculture.

The museum opened on June 20, 1990, the year of the centenary of N.S. Mukhin. Today, the museum houses 784 exhibits, most of which were donated by Nazariy Alexandrovich Alexandrov.

After finishing school, Nazariy Alexandrovich entered the Yoshkar-Ola Medical School to become a medic, like his brother Anatoly. In 1950, he graduated as a paramedic and then enrolled in Kazan Medical Institute, graduating in 1959. After his distribution, he became a doctor at the Krasnosteklovar District Hospital and later worked in the medical unit of the Mari Machine-Building Plant in Yoshkar-Ola.

In 1963, he was appointed head of the city health department of Yoshkar-Ola. From 1967 to 1971, he served as the chief physician of polyclinic No. 2. For his work in healthcare, he was awarded the badge 'Excellence in Healthcare of the USSR.' In 1971, he defended his dissertation and became a candidate of medical sciences. From that year, he began teaching at the Mari State Pedagogical Institute, where he worked until 1998.

Alexandrov was actively engaged in scientific work, publishing about 70 articles in the field of medicine and healthcare and around 200 articles on various topics. He also published monographs and educational materials for students. His second area of research was dedicated to restoring the literary heritage of N.S. Mukhin. He published a number of the poet's works and wrote about a hundred articles and stories.

Many of Nazariy Alexandrovich's works are kept in the N.S. Mukhin House Museum, which has been operating since 1990. Here, one can obtain complete information about the life and work of the poet. The museum is actively developing thanks to the efforts of Nazariy Alexandrovich, who provides practical and methodological assistance.

At the time of the museum's opening, its collection had only 100 exhibits, but now their number has increased to 781. In 2015, the museum hosted numerous events, including exhibitions and competitions. The most successful was the exhibition 'Vegetables and Fruits 2015,' which showcased unique vegetables and fruits. An exhibition of products produced in the Morkinsky district was also held, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the district.

The museum currently houses 781 exhibits, including ethnographic items, rare books, numismatics, and works of art. Cultural events are regularly held at the museum, such as Christmas celebrations, Defender of the Fatherland Day, Maslenitsa, and Victory Day.
