The house-museum of composer I. S. Klyuchnikov-Palantai was established by the order of the Ministry of Culture of the RSFSR on March 16, 1960, as a branch of the Mari Republican Local History Museum. The museum was opened on June 10, 1961, the year of the composer's 75th anniversary.

The exhibition includes about 111 exhibits. The museum has three rooms: a living room, an office, and a children's room, where personal belongings, manuscripts, household items, furniture, and musical instruments of the composer are carefully preserved.

History knows many individuals who significantly influenced the development of the musical culture of their country. However, only a few of them became pioneers, laying the foundation for the musical future of their people. I. S. Klyuchnikov-Palantai rightfully occupies a unique place in the history of Mari professional art.
