Georgy Vasilyevich Chicherin, an outstanding historian, musician, and diplomat, served as the People's Commissar for Foreign Affairs in the young Soviet republic. In 1987, a house museum dedicated to this renowned diplomat opened in Tambov. The museum is located in the estate of his father, V. N. Chicherin, and is a restored one-story mansion with a mezzanine. Today, it is not just a museum with a rich collection of exhibits, but also a center for research dedicated to studying the life and work of Georgy Vasilyevich.

The wooden house with a mezzanine, resembling stone cladding typical of 19th-century architecture, became the place where Chicherin spent his childhood years. The interior of the house has been recreated based on preserved documents and photographs. Antique furniture, textiles, musical instruments, and books help visitors better understand the daily life of that time. The museum's exhibition features personal belongings of the diplomat, his letters, manuscripts, and books. The museum staff have made efforts to recreate the authentic interiors that surrounded the Chicherin family. The mezzanine houses the children's rooms where Georgy, his brother, and sister lived. Such an exhibition is unique for Russia.

Georgy Vasilyevich's relatives also made significant contributions to the development of the country. For example, part of the exhibition is dedicated to his uncle, public figure and scholar B. N. Chicherin, who often visited the family estate.

In addition to a general tour about Chicherin's life and work, the museum offers thematic tours for different age groups. The youngest guests are greeted by characters from a puppet theater.

Chicherin's parents, Vasily Nikolaevich and Georgina Egorovna, were involved in charity, building a school for peasant children, a medical point, and a library. They instilled a love for music and painting in their children from an early age. Georgy Vasilyevich was passionate about music and wrote several works on the theory of musical art. The museum administration, in collaboration with the Rachmaninov Musical-Pedagogical Institute, organizes classical music evenings here.
