The house where Isaac Levitan lived and created is a unique monument both from a memorial and architectural perspective. This classic one-story wing of the 19th century belonged to Maria Morozova, and her son Sergey converted it for drawing. A special skylight was made in the building, and the exterior appearance was changed. However, Sergey never used the studio and eventually passed it on to his friend, the artist Levitan. Here, Levitan created many of his famous works.

The reconstruction of the house was carried out by Peter Drittenpreis, who decorated the facades with decorative elements such as window frames and kokoshniks, and installed a small tower with a weather vane in the shape of an arrow on top of the dome. All work was completed in 1889, and that same year Levitan began to live and work in the studio. He often had notable guests such as Shalyapin, Chekhov, Serov, Timiryazev, and other representatives of the creative and scientific intelligentsia.
