Merchant V.K. Venediktov's House

Фото 1
The building is located near the Bazaar Square, at the intersection of Dvoryanskaya and Khristorozhdestvenskaya streets. Part of the territory has been preserved. On the north side of the building, there was a palisade, as with neighboring houses whose facades face Dvoryanskaya Street. Now, there is a pedestrian sidewalk in its place, separated from the road by a lawn.

The main part of the house was built in the late 19th century, and in the early 20th century, a two-story extension was added on International Street (Dvoryanskaya). In May 1903, the Tambov City Duma allowed the merchant of the 2nd guild, Vasily Kuzmich Venediktov, to build a "stone two-story wing." In the 1910s, the house belonged to his heirs. According to documents from that time, four stone houses were listed at this address, valued at 3,300 rubles.

The house was characterized by thick walls and spacious apartments with large hallways, dining rooms, and bathrooms. Deep cellars for storing wine and food were located under the building. Initially, Venediktov's house was a rental property, offering comfortable apartments with enfilade layouts and separate bathrooms.

After the revolution, the house ceased to be a rental property. In the 1930s, families of aviation school employees moved in, rooms were partitioned, arches were boarded up, and even bathrooms were used for living. In the late 20th century, the eastern side of the house collapsed due to dilapidation, but was soon restored by a private firm.
