The house on Nikoloyamskaya Street first appeared on Moscow's plans in the late 18th century. Even then, cartographers noted it as a large two-story stone building with three main facades. Documents from 1806 indicate that the owner of the building was merchant and collegiate assessor Ivan Rodionovich Batyshev.

The facade of the building faced the red line of Nikoloyamskaya, creating that unique appearance of old Moscow that we know from books, paintings, and films. The main house of the estate suffered greatly in the fire of 1812, but by the early 1830s it was restored. Until 1974, the house underwent virtually no changes or reconstructions. However, during subsequent renovations, the interiors and facade decor were significantly altered, and a two-story annex was added. The building is adjacent to the former estate of Batyshev, where the Yauza Hospital is now located.

Currently, the 18th-century house on Shviva Gorka in the Tagansky district is awaiting restoration.
