The house was built in 1896 according to the design of architect Y.O. Dyutel, combining the Art Nouveau style with elements of pseudo-Russian style. Initially, it was part of an urban estate owned by the aristocratic representative E.O. Selivanova, although there is a version that the house belonged to an employee of the Siberian Bank, P.T. Selivanov. Later, the building underwent changes and additions. It is now difficult to establish its original appearance, as the house was owned by various merchants and notable individuals.

Originally, it was a large log house with six walls, consisting of 22 logs on a stone semi-basement with a roof without a ridge on "hanging" rafters. The house had a well-thought-out ventilation system, including vents and skylights. The living room with corner risalits and towers, a veranda, and a second floor made of 18 logs appeared during reconstruction. At that time, the building was adorned with wooden carvings and wrought iron elements. The semi-basement was likely used for storing provisions, was unheated, and well-ventilated through vents, while the windows provided natural lighting.

The house was heated by a large Russian stove combined with a tiled fireplace. Later, another fireplace was added for heating the annexes. The decor of the house impresses with the variety of wooden lace made by unknown Russian craftsmen. A garden surrounded the house, accessible from three sides.

After the October Revolution, the house was requisitioned and used as a sewing cooperative, the accounting office of the district food trade, and a housing maintenance office. From the 1930s until the late 1970s, it was part of the residential fund. In the early 1980s, the house came under the management of the Sverdlovsk Architectural Institute.

Currently, this house houses SHAKHT, a school of architectural and artistic creativity.
