The house in the village of Votrasa, Petovsky district, was built by Yakov Mikhailovich and Praskovya Vasilyevna Dobrovolsky. It includes a double izba, consisting of winter and summer parts, as well as a shed with a cellar and a farmyard.

In the 1910s, a second summer izba, a five-walled structure, was added next to the winter izba, built in the 1880s. Typically, winter izbas were smaller in size than summer ones. All izbas are covered with a common gable roof of rafter construction, connected by front porches to the outdoor and rear entrances. At the back of the front porches, near the yard, there is a toilet, called a 'nuzhnik'.

The interior of the winter white izba reflects a traditional dwelling with built-in fixed furniture, functionality, and a clear placement of each item in its place. The original sleeping platforms, sleeping benches, and almost all the benches have been preserved in the winter izba. Next to the stove is a staircase leading to the 'podpol' or 'cellar', where the potato pit was located. The staircase is separated from the izba by a 'golbets', a wooden partition with a painted door.
