Originally, this was the estate of I.O. Tsurikov. After 1812, the main house was built, presumably by architect M.F. Kazakov for the Naryshkin family, and decembrist M.M. Naryshkin lived there. Members of the secret society of decembrists, such as K.F. Ryleev and I.I. Pushchin, gathered in this house. In January 1826, Mikhail Naryshkin and Ivan Pushchin were arrested here. Later, the building was adorned with a bas-relief depicting shackles intertwined with laurel branches.
