Income House of Jeweler Fyodor Lorie

Фото 1
The income house of the jeweler factory Fyodor Lorie, built in 1914, is located in Moscow at Zvonarsky Lane, building 5, structure 2. The architect of the building was Fyodor Ganeshin. The house is situated in a courtyard and is almost hidden from the eyes of passersby, however, its upper part with a characteristic modern roof and majolica is visible from the side of Rakhmanovsky Lane.

The Lorie firm operated from 1871 to 1917 and was renowned for its products, which often matched the quality and price of items made by craftsmen working under the Fabergé brand. The firm was honored with the title of "Supplier to the Court of His Imperial Majesty." It was founded in 1871 by Fyodor Anatolyevich Lorie, the owner of a factory for jewelry and silverware. In 1895, he opened a jewelry store at Kuznetsky Most, 4, near the K. Fabergé store.

In 1912, the firm transformed into a partnership with a capital of 800,000 rubles, with co-founders being employees of the Moscow branch of K. Fabergé: Alexey Fyodorovich Lemkul and Giulio (Yuliy Akimovich) Guarneri. Guarneri worked in the 1920s with the sons of K. Fabergé, Yevgeny and Alexander, in Paris. It is possible that Fyodor Lorie fulfilled orders for the K. Fabergé firm, which controlled the production, sales, and assortment of the partnership.

The firm produced silverware, household and interior items, various settings for crystal, and jewelry. The masters used casting and chasing techniques, combining them with elements of stamped ornamentation. Enamel was used in the jewelry, complemented by precious and semi-precious stones. Stylistically, the firm's products were diverse: from stylizations of ornaments of Western European and Russian art of the 17th-19th centuries to Art Nouveau and Neo-Russian style.

In the early 21st century, the building became the property of Lukoil, and the Lorie monogram on the facade under the roof was replaced with the logo of the new owner. Later, the oilmen left the building, and its future remains unknown.
