On Pushkinskaya Street in Rostov-on-Don stands an impressive pre-revolutionary mansion, known as the income house of Stepan Shatov, built in the 1910s. Unfortunately, the building has survived to this day in a significantly altered form, and the name of the architect who created its design is unknown. However, it is known that the owner of the house was the famous Rostov merchant Stepan Shatov.

This house is not the only building associated with Shatov's name. In 1905, he built another income house, which contemporaries called the 'house with the dragonfly.' However, that house is significantly smaller than the five-story mansion on Pushkinskaya Street. Initially, the building was used for renting out apartments, but after the arrival of Soviet power, it was nationalized.

Today, the former income house of Stepan Shatov remains residential and retains some interesting elements of its exterior design. It is included in the list of cultural heritage sites of regional significance, and its damage or destruction is prohibited by law.
