One of the most beautiful pre-revolutionary buildings in Rostov-on-Don is the income house built in the late 19th century for the second guild merchant Shenderov. The project was developed by the famous architect Nikolai Matveyevich Sokolov. Today, this building is recognized as a monument of architecture and is included in the list of cultural heritage sites of regional significance.

The building, executed in eclectic and modern styles, has a U-shaped form. Its main facade faces the modern Voroshilovsky Avenue, while the side facades are directed towards Serafimovich and Temernitskaya Streets. The central part and corners of the main facade are adorned with rectangular attics topped with tents. The first floor is finished with rustication, and the windows of the facade are decorated with numerous stucco ornaments: female heads, garlands, wreaths, and plant motifs. The vertical division of the facade is emphasized by the brackets with bay windows on the second floor.

On the first floor of the central part of the building were various trading establishments. The second floor was used by Shenderov as a residence, where his reception halls were located, while the side wings housed residential apartments.

After the arrival of Soviet power, the house was confiscated from the owner. In the 1920s, trading organizations occupied the first floor, while communal apartments were on the second. During World War II, the building was damaged, and the central tent was lost. In the 1950s, the building was restored according to the project of architects M. N. Ishunin and G. A. Petrov, and new extensions were added at that time.

In the mid-2000s, another reconstruction was carried out, during which the central tent was restored to its original appearance. Now, in the former income house of Shenderov, there is a branch of Alfa-Bank, a small bakery, and a restaurant, and the building itself is considered one of the most beautiful on Voroshilovsky Avenue.
