Income House of Merchant Mikhail Kulakov

Фото 1
In the center of Rostov-on-Don stands a pre-revolutionary income house, built in 1914 by merchant Mikhail Kulakov, shortly before the start of World War I. The house, executed in an original style, was part of the significant fortune of the Kulakov family, who were well-known in pre-revolutionary Rostov. Mikhail Kulakov and his sons owned several buildings, which housed not only rented apartments but also shops managed by the Kulakovs themselves.

The peak of the Kulakov business development coincided with World War I, when they acquired another building, where Osip Mandelstam performed during the Soviet era. However, with the arrival of the Bolsheviks, all income houses were confiscated, and the further fate of the owners remains unknown.

Today, the building of the former income house of Mikhail Kulakov is included in the list of cultural heritage sites of regional significance. It retains an attractive appearance, especially highlighted by its charming balconies.
