The building on Ruzheiny Lane is one of the few well-known structures in Moscow created by architect Mikhail Isakov. Its original appearance has hardly changed since its construction. In designing the facades, the architect drew inspiration from the works of Moscow architects of the 16th and 17th centuries.

The architectural design of the building is characteristic of Russian architecture of these centuries, giving the income house a "gingerbread" look. The main entrance is located on the side of the lane and is adorned with paired decorative columns topped with a triangular pediment featuring small rectangular projections known as "dryers." The windows of the main facade are decorated with frames, and at the level of the fourth floor, the building is adorned with brackets, a wide cornice, and a profiled cornice. The roof is designed as a tent, with two octagonal tent towers at its corners featuring "dryer" bands, and two attic windows framed with carved frames.

Each floor of the house had two apartments. Inside the building, the original staircases that adorn the entrance area have been preserved.

In the 1920s, the famous archaeologist Pavel Dmitriev and his wife Elena Liperovskaya, who worked at the Armory Chamber, lived here.
