In 1897, architect Pyotr Pavlovich Shchekotov built an impressive income house in Gothic style at the request of honorary citizen of Moscow Konstantin Fyodorovich Lazarev. The building stands out among its neighbors due to its rich decoration with porticos, carved decor, figurative inserts, and mosaics, as well as other complex architectural elements.

In 2005, the building underwent reconstruction. Special attention during the restoration was drawn to the work of specialists from the Center for Historical and Urban Studies: they deviated from the original appearance of the building but managed to convey the Gothic spirit by adding images of fantastic creatures to the facade that were not in the original design. Thus, on the protruding bay window, the head of a chimera appeared, and above the arch of the former passage yard, a unicorn. These elegant, even miniature decorations do not quite match the style of Pyotr Shchekotov, who preferred larger decorative elements, but they fit harmoniously into the appearance of the building. Also, during the last reconstruction, an attic floor was added.

Today, the building at Nashchokinsky Lane, 8, functions as an office-residential complex.
