In 1900, Moscow entrepreneur and landlord Dmitry Abramovich Pavlov commissioned the renowned architect Nikolai Petrovich Markov to build a five-story income house on Prechistenka (Gogolevsky) Boulevard. The building, designed in the style of late eclecticism with elements of classicism, attracted tenants with its unusual shape that echoed the curves of the boulevard. The apartments housed people from various social classes, while the ground floor featured shops, warehouses, and taverns. After the revolution, communal apartments appeared here, as in other parts of Moscow. One of them was home to the People's Artist of the USSR B.V. Shchukin from the mid-1920s, known as the first performer of V.I. Lenin's role in film and theater. In the early 2000s, the building underwent a major renovation and became a business center. On the ground floor, as a hundred years ago, restaurants and shops are still in operation.
