One of the rare examples of pre-revolutionary architecture in Rostov-on-Don is the income house of Alexander Kelle-Shaginov, built in 1914 by architect Pozdnyakov.

This four-story building is executed in the style of northern modernism, which was first used in Russia in Saint Petersburg, having come from Northern Europe. Later, the style spread throughout the country, but in Rostov-on-Don, besides this income house, only one other building in the northern modern style was constructed. The house stands out with its original windows and decoration.

The income house of Alexander Kelle-Shaginov was originally intended for renting apartments of various price levels, which continued until the arrival of Soviet power, after which the building was nationalized. Today, the former income house is included in the list of cultural heritage sites of regional significance and is under state protection.
