In 1891, a church was built in Berezovka in honor of Dmitry of Thessaloniki, dedicated to the memory of Russian soldiers who fell at the Kulikovo Field. Its construction was financed by entrepreneur and patron Yuri Nechaev-Maltsov, and local residents referred to the church as Nechaevskaya.

The building's design in the Russian style was developed by architect Alexander Pomerantsev. There is information that the church's frescoes were done by Viktor Vasnetsov, and the mosaics were created by a master from St. Petersburg, Vladimir Frolov. Inside the church, columns in the Moorish style were installed. The metal structure of the roof, the choir, and the stairs were executed according to the drawings of engineer Vladimir Shukhov.

Today, the paintings and mosaics have not survived, and the unique three-tiered bell tower of the church has been destroyed. Until the early 21st century, the Dmitrievskaya Church was abandoned. In 2008, restoration began, and the first priority was to install a roof made of patinated copper.
