In 2018, the Museum of History and Archaeology was opened, featuring two new halls: "Archaeology of the Mari Volga Region: Culture, People, State" and "Mari Land. Milestones of History." In the hall "Mari Land. Milestones of History," you can see authentic items and photo documents reflecting key moments in the region's history. The exhibition "Archaeology of the Mari Volga Region: Culture, People, State" covers ancient eras of land development between the Vetluzhsk-Vyatka interfluve and the adjacent part of the right bank of the Volga, from the Stone Age to the incorporation into the Russian state. The museum occupies the second and third floors of a three-story building.

On the first floor of the same building is the Children's Museum Center. It is comfortably located on the banks of the Malaya Kokshaga River in Yoshkar-Ola and is part of modern urban architecture.

The center is designed for exhibitions of children's creative works and their development. Puppet shows, theatrical performances, concerts, numerous workshops, quest excursions, and creative projects are held here.
