The Dalne-Davydovsky Nikolayevsky Monastery, a communal monastery, is located 75 versts from the city of Gorbatov, in the village of Dalne-Davydovo. It was founded in 1886 on the basis of a women's community that had existed since 1857. The community was initiated by peasant women Neoniла Borisovna Zakharova and Agrippina Petrovna Vasilieva. At their request, the local landowner Aristov donated a forest dacha located near the large Murom road. It was here in 1785 that the venerable Seraphim, while traveling to raise funds for the construction of a church in the Sarov desert, stopped to rest. He erected a cross and told his companion Antoniy that a women's monastery and a church in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "Utolimaya Pechali" would be built at this site. Subsequently, a wooden church was indeed built here, followed by a stone church in honor of this icon, and a women's monastery emerged. The monastery also operates a hospital, a guesthouse, a school, and an orphanage.
