The small town of Semiluki is located just a few kilometers from Voronezh. Local residents, regardless of age, love to relax in the ancient park adjacent to Bashkirtsev's dacha, a monument of federal architectural significance. Official data indicates that the Bashkirtsev house was built in the early 19th century, but some local historians believe its foundation is much older. The Semiluki estate became famous not only due to its owner, the wealthy industrialist Ivan Sergeyevich Bashkirtsev, but also thanks to the poet Alexei Vasilyevich Koltsov.

Koltsov often visited Semiluki, finding peace and joy at Bashkirtsev's dacha away from his father's pressure and the hustle and bustle of the city. He stayed with the Bashkirtsevs annually from spring to late autumn, starting in 1832. It was here that he met his muse and last love, Varvara Lebedeva.

One might expect that this poetic and romantic place would become a quiet city park and museum, attracting fans of Koltsov's work, with lovers strolling along the alleys. However, reality has proven harsh. The website 'Zhitye-Bytiye' published material on the current state of affairs in Semiluki.

In recent years, the ancient Bashkirtsev park has become a site for unauthorized picnics. Barbecue enthusiasts leave trash behind and light fires right on the alleys. The house has also suffered: it has been turned into a restroom, and its walls are covered with vulgar inscriptions and occult symbols.

Currently, Bashkirtsev's dacha and the park exist thanks to the efforts of concerned citizens. Over a year ago, local historian Pavel Popov decided to help the estate. Together with students from Voronezh State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, Olga Chernikova and Elizaveta Artamonova, under the guidance of Professor Alexander Tankeev, they developed a restoration project for the dacha. It was previously planned to use the dacha as a registry office, a family museum, and a landscaped park. Now, activists are negotiating with authorities to address the issues at the federal level. While a decision has not yet been made and there are no federal subsidies, local historians are making tremendous efforts to tackle pressing problems. On designated days, they come to the estate for community clean-up days to pick up trash left by those who consider the park a suitable place for picnics.
