In the Tambov region, in the small village of Osino-Gai in the Gavrilovsky district, there is a well-known landmark, the ancient Znamenskaya church. This three-altar church was built in 1875. The main altar of the temple is consecrated in honor of the icon of the Sign of the Mother of God, which gave the monastery its name. The tall wooden building, painted bright blue and adorned with white lace trim, impresses with its beauty. The church is known for having its first rector, Father Peter Kosmodemyansky, who is the grandfather of Zoya and Shura Kosmodemyanskie, canonized as a saint. He is buried by the church walls. For a long time, it was believed that he was killed by the Antonovites, but the locals claim it was done by representatives of the new authorities, which Father Peter did not recognize.

The church remained inactive for only three years, from 1943 to 1946, during the Great Patriotic War. Currently, services are conducted by Archpriest Alexander, who makes every effort to maintain the church in good condition.
