The wooden parish church dedicated to the Conception of John the Baptist, known as the Precursor Church, with an altar for Saints Frol and Lavr, was built in the village of Prudishchi, Zverovo, in the 17th century on the lands of the Zubovs. In 1809, it burned down, but by 1812, a stone church was constructed in its place, becoming the second stone church in the area.

In 1917, the church was closed, and during the Soviet era, the bell tower was partially destroyed. The first service after a long hiatus took place on July 4, 2010, after which the faithful made a procession around the church. The restoration of the church is supported by the parishioners of the Annunciation Men's Monastery from Nizhny Novgorod.
