Church of the Conception of John the Baptist in Ivanovsk

Фото 1
The stone church with two altars was built by the efforts of parishioners in 1823. The main altar is dedicated to John the Baptist, while the one in the refectory is dedicated to the Prophet Elijah. Before this, there was a wooden church on the site, and copies of its metric books have been preserved since 1790.

The parish of the Church of John the Baptist includes four villages: Vyazilki, Tugariino, Gorodnoye, and Plotinka, where chapels have long existed. The small community of the church had 125 households. The church was never wealthy: it faced a shortage of church vestments and was poor in utensils. The support for the priests always remained modest. The position of deacon often remained vacant, and services were conducted only by the priest and the psalmist.

Repairs to the church were carried out thanks to the efforts of the churchwarden. In the early 20th century, the churchwarden became a peasant from the village, M.I. Sidorov, whose care for the church significantly eased the current restoration work.
