Church of the Entry of the Most Holy Theotokos into the Temple of the Resurrection Goritsky Women's Monastery

Beyond the monastery fence, on a rise slightly jutting into the Sheksna River, stands the Vvedenskaya Church with its bell tower and clergy house. It was built in 1861, when the village around the monastery expanded and began to cause inconveniences for the nuns. There were no other churches on this side of the Sheksna, and the residents attended the monastery's temples. Since the presence of men in a women's monastery was undesirable, the need for a parish church arose, which was constructed outside the monastery. It functioned during the Soviet era longer than others, until 1941. From the forged church fence, dismantled for scrap metal during the war, the gateposts remain. Next to the church was a cemetery.

In 1999, with the blessing of Patriarch Alexy of Moscow and All Russia, the Resurrection Goritsky Women's Monastery was reopened. The abbess became nun Eufaliya Lebedeva, who was to restore the ruined monastery. Mother Eufaliya arrived at the Goritsky Monastery in 1996. The first church where services resumed was the parish church of the Entry into the Temple of the Most Holy Theotokos, located by the monastery walls. The revival of the church began thanks to the efforts of the Orthodox community of the village of Goritsy. At the walls of the Vvedenskaya Church was a village cemetery, where generations of residents were buried. During the Soviet years, the church was turned into a tractor station, the bell tower with its elegant spire was destroyed, and the cemetery was desecrated. When constructing the Volga-Baltic Waterway, the waters of the Sheksna overflowed, swallowing part of the shore by the monastery walls, and the graves of the village cemetery went underwater. Through the efforts of the parishioners of the Vvedenskaya Church, the chapel of the icon of the Mother of God "Life-Giving Spring" was restored, and a new bell tower was built. Volunteers from St. Petersburg, other cities, and even foreign students participated in the restoration work.
