In the 17th century, a women's Presentation Monastery was founded on Minin Hill, where a wooden two-story Presentation Church was built in the middle of the same century. In the early 18th century, the monastery acquired a stone church of the same name. Later, by decree of Catherine II, the Presentation Women's Monastery was closed and transformed into a parish church. At the end of the 19th century, a bell tower was added to the church, and in the early 20th century, it was completely rebuilt.

During the Soviet period, the church building housed a sports school. In 2007, the building was returned to the Russian Orthodox Church, and the first rector was Father Antoniy Dodunov. In 2008, the Presentation Men's Monastery was established under the guidance of Hieromonk Sevastyan Markov, who actively worked on the restoration of the church. In 2013, the monastery again became a parish church, with Protopriest Alexander Stolyarov appointed as its rector. The Presentation Church is also known for being the place where the holy martyr Father Konstantin Tverdislov served, a saint of the land of Vyazniki.
