In the village of Sofiivka, a brick Presentation church was built between 1820 and 1823. In 1903, a wooden Kazan church was erected in the same village. From 1930 to 1932, churches, including those in Sofiivka, were closed. During this time, 16 priests in the area were repressed, many of whom died in exile. In 1937, priest V.E. Streltzov from Sofiivka was arrested, convicted, and executed.

The brick church, dedicated to the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, was constructed from red brick between 1820 and 1823. The walls were adorned with frescoes depicting saints. Today, this church has survived, although it is in a semi-ruined state.
