The church was built in 1784 with funds from parishioners on the site of a lost wooden church from the 17th century. It is made of stone, has five domes, and a tiered bell tower. The iconostasis, dating back to the 18th century, consists of five tiers. The church's frescoes were completed in the mid-19th century. There are two altars in the church: one is dedicated to the Mother of God icon, and the other to Saint Nicholas, Archbishop of Myra in Lycia, the miracle worker. In the 1920s, the church was closed.

In 1998, it was transferred to the Russian Orthodox Church and has been active since then.
