The main attraction of the former village of Vesyolovka was the Presentation Church, located at 2a Permskaya Street. However, it looked different a hundred years ago.

The church was built by order of the Synod. The church hierarchy and structure resemble the secular: in civil life, Penza was divided into districts, and in church life, into parishes. Vesyolovka belonged to the Vvedensky parish, and residents went to pray at the church on the modern Kuybyshev Street. This was extremely inconvenient, as the church was too far from the village. Therefore, the Synod decided to build a separate church. The building project in the ancient Russian style was developed by architect Alexey Erenberg, and the first brick in the foundation was laid on June 27, 1899. The construction was delayed, and the church opened only in 1906. The first altar was consecrated by Bishop Tikhon Nikanorov, who was later elevated to the rank of holy martyr. During the Civil War, Tikhon was hanged by order of Ataman Shkuro at the gates of the Blagoveshchensky Monastery in Borisoglebsk. Local believers hold him in great esteem.

The church did not survive the Stalin era. In the 1930s, the church was closed, and for a long time, it housed a grain storage facility. The church reopened only in 1991.
