The village of Volstinovo is located 13 versts from Yuryev and 75 versts from Vladimir. It was a palace village and is first mentioned in the spiritual charter of Grand Duke Vasily Vasilyevich from 1462, where he bequeathed it to his wife, Princess Maria Yaroslavovna. In the 17th century, the village was also recorded as a palace in the books of the Patriarchal Treasury. In these books from 1628, the church of Dmitry of Thessalonica in Volstinovo is mentioned, which was wooden until the 1830s.

In 1830, a stone church with a bell tower was built with the funds of the parishioners. It has two altars: in the cold part, in honor of the Ascension of the Lord, and in the warm chapel, in the name of Saint Great Martyr Dmitry of Thessalonica. Since 1815, copies of metric books and confession lists have been kept, as well as an inventory of church property.

The church land includes about 1 desyatina of homestead land, 33 desyatinas of hayfields and arable land, for which there is a plan. According to the clergy's staff, there is a priest and a psalmist. Their maintenance is funded by 140 rubles from grain collection, 270 rubles from the land, and 260 rubles for sacramental services, totaling about 672 rubles. The clergy has church houses. The parish consists of one village with 67 households and a population of 202 men and 196 women. In 1883, a church-parish school was opened in the village.
