In the ancient village of Nikolsk, at the end of its only street and next to a pond, stands the white-pink five-domed Ascension Church. It features an original volumetric-spatial solution and has chapels dedicated to Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker and Martyr Tatiana. In plan, the church is a rectangle with rounded corners, inside which is another rectangle. The central part of the composition is a column-free square that serves as the base for a massive octagon, covered by a low vaulted ceiling. The other volumes are arranged not along the longitudinal axis but around the central part, creating a centric composition. All the walls of the square are pierced with high arches: the eastern one leads to the altar part, while the others lead to a wide gallery-porch, covered with cylindrical vaults with ribs, surrounding the main volume on three sides.

The external appearance of the temple is executed in the style of late classicism. The church has three entrances: western, northern, and southern. The northern and southern portals are adorned with Doric porticoes. The rounded corners of the walls with radiating rustication feature a window in an arch at the center. The low octagon is pierced by three semicircular windows from the north and south, and one from the west. Its diagonal faces are slightly rounded, echoing the shapes of the lower tier.

The composition of the summer church determined the absence of a refectory and the isolated position of a small but elegant Empire-style bell tower, connected to the church by a short and low narthex. The interior retains fragments of wall paintings executed in the academic style of the first half of the 19th century. The color palette of the paintings includes bluish and pink tones, with much of the painting imitating stucco. The framework of a classical three-tiered iconostasis with carved details has been preserved. The church was commissioned in 1822 by General E.N. Naryshkina.

The church is surrounded by a cemetery, within the enclosure of which two gates have been preserved on the southern and northern sides, connected by a small alley leading to the main entrance of the church.

The village also retains historical civil buildings from the late 19th century and a single-story brick building of the church parish school.
