The village of Golubkovskoye in the Alapaevsk district is located on the left bank of the Nitsa River, near the road connecting Alapaevsk and Irbit. Its history dates back to 1623 when the lands were acquired by Grigory Mikhailovich Novoselov, Ustin Pankratevich Zobnin, and Abrosim Yakovlevich Golubchikov. The village was named after the last one. The main occupation of the residents was agriculture, and in winter they engaged in transportation due to the proximity of the Irbit-Verkhoturye road.

The first church in the village, built in the 18th century, was wooden and small, without decorations. It existed until 1806 when it was dismantled, leaving only a stone pillar in memory. In the same year, the construction of a new stone church began, consecrated in honor of the Ascension of the Lord. In the 19th century, the church was repeatedly expanded. In 1821, a northern chapel dedicated to Archangel Michael appeared, and in 1872, a southern chapel in honor of the prophet Elijah. Among the locals, there is a legend about a pilgrim who helped raise a 40-pud bell to the church by reciting a prayer.

The architecture of the temple is a vivid example of Siberian Baroque with elements of classicism, popular in the Urals at that time. The Ascension Church was considered the richest in the area. In 1892, a major fire occurred in the village, which severely damaged the church, destroying almost all property except for part of the archive and library. By 1897, the temple was restored, but the chapel of the prophet Elijah was not restored.

The church operated until 1935, after which it was used for some time as a grain warehouse. Now the temple is a monument of architecture and a cultural heritage site of the Sverdlovsk region, although it is in a neglected and semi-ruined state. Nevertheless, a parish operates there.
