The Church of the Ascension of the Lord is a sturdy stone building and serves as a parish church. It has two altars: one in the cold summer section, dedicated to the Ascension of the Lord, and the other in the warm winter section, dedicated to the Sign of the Mother of God. The church was built in 1805 thanks to the efforts of Major Alexander Gorokhov and the support of parishioners. A particularly revered relic is the icon of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker.

The church owns 36 desyatinas of land, on which there are houses for the priest and the psalmist. The church's endowment amounts to 991 rubles. The parish consists of 290 men and 348 women. The village is located on the slope of a hill by two ponds, 20 versts from the towns of Romanovo and Borisoglebsk, and 26 versts from Yaroslavl. The Alexeytsev parish formed in the second half of the 19th century from parishioners of several parishes: the Elevation in Igrishchi, Nikol-Zabolotsky, and Bogorodsk-Pazinsky. The parish includes the village of Afanasovo, whose residents moved here from Tver Province.

A church-parish school operates in the parish. The clergy staff includes positions for a priest and a psalmist, with a salary from the treasury of 392 rubles and a parish capital in bonds amounting to 3286 rubles.
