The village of Yarapoltsy, located by the Trestyanka River, is first mentioned in 1563 as part of the Pereslavl Goritsky Monastery. In documents from 1628-1629, it is described as devastated: the fields overgrown with forest, and the church destroyed. In 1668, a wooden church dedicated to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker was built here, which burned down in 1860. In its place, a stone church was erected in 1864 with the main altar in honor of the Exaltation of the Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, as well as a warm refectory of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and St. Averky of Hierapolis, along with a bell tower.

On July 12, 2008, emergency repair work began on the dome of the church. This work is funded by donations from local residents, with the aim of eventually petitioning for the opening of a parish in the village of Yarapoltsy. The work is being carried out under the patronage of the Yaroslavl Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church. On July 20, 2008, Sergiy, the rector of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos Church in the village of Glebovskoye, served the first thanksgiving prayer since the church's closure. Currently, two roofs have been installed to protect the vault in the main chapel and the altar area, but the roof over the refectory remains in an emergency state. We still have much to do, but the priority task is to protect the vault over the refectory and the side chapels: the left Nicholas chapel and the right Resurrection chapel.
