The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross has a warm chapel dedicated to Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker of Myra. The church has two altars: one in honor of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, and the other for Saint Nicholas of Myra. The temple was built in 1769 thanks to the efforts of the parishioners. The church has 36 desyatins of land, and there are separate wooden houses for the priest and the psalmist. The parish consists of 539 men and 676 women. The village of Shelshedomy is located on a plateau near the large Varegov swamp, which has a circumference of about 50 versts and is the source of the rivers Pechgada, Yukhota, and Cheremukha, situated 40 versts from Yaroslavl. There is a zemstvo school in the village. The clergy consists of a priest and a psalmist, and the parish capital amounts to 3306 rubles in bonds.
