The village of Olkhovskoye-Ozero is located 200 versts from Yekaterinburg and 45 versts from Shadrinsk. It is situated by two lakes in a low-lying, damp, and wooded area with an unhealthy climate. The soil here is clayey with patches of black soil. The parish of Olkhovskoye-Ozero was founded in 1840 when a wooden church was built in honor of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. Prior to this, the parish was part of the parish of the village of Olkhovskoye. The village got its name from the lake, which was once surrounded by a dense alder grove, of which only stumps remain now. All the villagers, Russians, Orthodox believers, and dissenters, total 1567 people, of which 235 are dissenters. The parish includes the village and the villages of Peschanaya, located 75 versts away, and Butkinskoye Ozero, 10 versts away. The main occupations of the residents are agriculture, wheel-making, and small trade.

The first church of the village was wooden and built with funds from parishioners from a church purchased in the village of Voznesenskoye for 400 rubles in banknotes. It was consecrated in 1851. On June 26, 1869, the church burned down due to a lightning strike. In its place, a stone church was laid on May 20, 1873, completed in 1877 and consecrated on July 20, 1878. The iconostasis was donated from the church of the village of Osinovskoye and was renovated in 1900 with funds from parishioners for 400 rubles. The antimension in this church is the same as that which was in the wooden church; it was consecrated during the patriarchate of Joseph in the year 7157 and is kept sewn into the altar cloth. There is a chapel by the church in the village of Peschanaya, built around 1855.
