The order of the Department for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Heritage of Nizhny Novgorod and the Nizhny Novgorod Region dated April 24, 2000, No. 5-OD included the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in the village of Okishino in the list of monuments of urban planning and architecture. This object dates back to the 19th century, specifically 1854. However, order No. 5-OD was revoked on October 20, 2014, by order No. 159, as reported by the Department of State Protection of Cultural Heritage Sites of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
According to updated information from local historian Irina Naumova, a wooden Church of St. John the Theologian was built in Okishino. Since 1920, Deacon Nikita Dmitrievich Rogozhin served here, who was sentenced to death and executed on November 14, 1937.
