The Orthodox parish in the village of Gol'yany has existed for over 300 years, starting from 1711. This is confirmed by a peasant tale about the residents of the villages and hamlets of the parish, buried in the cemetery near the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Gol'yany. The parish was part of the Sarapul district of the Vyatka diocese and was headed by Priest Nikita Erofeev.

The first church in Gol'yany was dedicated to the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, but the exact date of its construction is unknown. In 1754, the construction of a new wooden Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross began, which burned down in 1795 due to a lightning strike. From 1798 to 1832, a stone church was built according to the design of architect F.M. Roslyakov. The temple had three altars: the main altar in honor of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, the second in honor of the Epiphany, and the third in memory of Saint Great Martyr Paraskeva. It was located on the bank of the Kama River near the main pier.

In 1870, a Sunday school opened at the church, and in 1876, a church parish charity was established, which managed the activities of parishioners in church, charitable, and missionary affairs. Priest Pavel Petrovich Myshkin, possessing the gift of healing, maintained a hospital at his home, known across several volosts. An Alcoholics Anonymous Society also operated within the parish.

During the Civil War, the church found itself in the center of hostilities and was soon looted. In 1937-1938, it was closed and turned into a grain storage facility. In 1943, the crosses and bells were removed, and the walls were dismantled for bricks to build the district executive committee building. By 1947, nothing remained of the church.

The revival of the parish began on July 14, 2000. In 2001, a prayer room was arranged. In May 2012, with the blessing of Metropolitan Nikolai of Izhevsk and Udmurtia, work began on the restoration of the church. On September 25, 2016, the new Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross was consecrated with a minor rite, and on June 25, 2017, Metropolitan Viktorin of Izhevsk and Udmurtia conducted the rite of the Great Consecration and the first archpastoral liturgy.

Only a few icons from the old church have survived, including the icons of the Mother of God "Vladimirskaya", Archangel Michael, Archangel Gabriel, Saint Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon, and the Prophet Elijah. New relics have appeared, brought by benefactor K.V. Sychev from Jerusalem, including particles of the relics of various saints.

In 2017, a chapel was built on the church grounds in honor of the Great Martyr Paraskeva Friday, who is highly revered in Gol'yany, with an altar dedicated to the New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia.
