Church of the Resurrection of the Word in Verkh-Neyvinsky

In the Verkh-Neyvinsky factory, from the very beginning of its existence, many schismatics of the Old Believer sect lived under the protection of the factory managers. In the 1820s, a runaway priest, Paramon Lebedev from Vladimir province, Shuya district, village of Lopatinskoye, lived there to conduct rituals.

In 1820, the managers of the V.-Isetsky factories, Poluzadov and Kitaev, built a large wooden chapel on a stone foundation for the schismatics. The building was two stories: the upper floor housed the altar and a dining hall that could accommodate up to 1500 people, while the lower floor contained a baptismal and confessional. A few years later, another manager, Zotov, decided to create a male Old Believer skete in Verkh-Neyvinsk and built a stone building on the hill. However, with the rise of Emperor Nicholas I, the skete was not established, and the schismatics used the building as a chapel for funerals.

At the end of 1839, a church of the same faith was built in Yekaterinburg by the Ryazanovs, and they wished to see Paramon Lebedev, a well-known keeper of ancient rites, as their priest. General Glinka, the mining chief, allowed this, ordering Lebedev to be brought to Yekaterinburg, threatening to send him to the Vladimir Archbishop if he refused. Lebedev agreed, repented in church, and was allowed to serve in the Ryazanov church by the Perm Archbishop Arkady. Thus, the schismatics in Verkh-Neyvinsk were left without a priest, and their services were conducted by lay leaders. From this time, conversions to the same faith began.

In 1847, in the Verkh-Neyvinsk parish of the same faith, opened in 1839, there were so many parishioners that at their request, the factory owner rebuilt the chapel on the hill into a church, adding a stone altar and a wooden bell tower. On February 1, 1848, the church was consecrated in honor of the Resurrection of the Lord.

By 1989, the Church of the Resurrection of Christ was almost completely destroyed. Restoration began in 1990, and by 1993, the first service was held. The church was re-consecrated in 1997 and is currently active.
