The village of Zhaisk is located on the Oka River. In the land books of 1629-1630, the village of Zhaisk is mentioned, granted to the boyar Mikhail Borisovich Shein. At that time, the village had 19 peasant households, 7 landless households, and 7 empty ones. According to the inscription on the altar Gospel from the church of the Pogost of Kosmademyanovsky, in 1647 Zhaisk was a village. However, in the revenue books of the Ryazan Diocese for 1676, a parish church is already listed here, indicating its construction and the opening of the parish in the early second half of the 17th century. These books mention the Church of the Resurrection of Christ, where priest Ignatius served. The village had 43 peasant households and 2 landless households, while in the village of Myakisheva, there were 15 peasant households.

The wooden church burned down in 1803, and the construction of a stone temple began the same year. The refectory was consecrated in 1810, and the main church in 1819. In 1869-1870, the refectory was expanded, and from 1867 to 1873, a new stone bell tower was built. In 1896, the church had three altars: the main one in honor of the Resurrection of Christ, in the warm refectory in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God and the saints Cosmas and Damian. The church was well supplied with utensils, vestments, holy icons, and liturgical books. The icon of the Mother of God was especially revered. Among the ancient sacred items, only the altar Gospel from 1677 has survived.

The clergy consisted of a priest, a deacon, and a psalmist, who received up to 1150 rubles a year from various sources. They had their own houses on church land. The land associated with the church included 28 desyatinas of arable land and 3 desyatinas of haymaking land. The priest received from the peasants of Zhaisk a share in the form of 15 quarters of rye, 5 quarters of wheat, and 6 rubles, and also used the mowing land. The deacon and psalmist cultivated the land themselves.

The parish included the village of Zhaisk and the villages of Myakisheva and Vishenki, where the clerical records listed 259 households, 742 men, and 798 women. In 1873, the clergy included priests Pavel Vishnevsky, Nikolai Troitsky, and Fyodor Sokorovsky; deacons Pavel Uspensky, Vasily Svetozarov, and sexton Ivan Krimov. All of them had their own houses on church land.

Since 1864, a zemstvo public school operated in Zhaisk, where 80 people were educated in 1896.

The Church of the Resurrection of Christ was closed in the 1930s.
