In the village of Vorontsovo, according to the clerical books of 1628 and 1629, there was a church dedicated to the Resurrection of the Lord, with an altar in honor of the miracle of Archangel Michael, built by the owners of the estate. At that time, there was no priest at the church, and his yard remained empty. This church is also mentioned in the census books of 1678. In 1718, two priests, Fyodor and Grigory Leontyev, served here.

According to the report of 1799, there was a church in Vorontsovo in the name of the renewal of the Church of the Resurrection of Christ, made of wood, built through the efforts of the village owner Andrey Ivanovich Kartashev. A wooden bell tower was located at the church. The exact time of the construction of this church is unknown. In 1800, an altar in honor of the Meeting of the Lord was added to it.
